Orbit eTOG Listing Service: RFC-7 Consider usage of "guy"
Description: Gender-neutral replacement? "Goon"? Hm. That can't be good either.
Comments:
- goomba?
- COMBINING CHARACTER S/GUY/GIRL/G ?
- gamer?
- goober?
- if someone is not comfortable being called a "guy" then they simply should not be assigned any togs
- reasonable position. need a way to tabulate that then
- my preference would be to find a similarly pithy gender neutral term to change it to
- what if we add a TOG that is "people who are not guys"
- we could also just s/TOG/TOP/ the whole thing for "type of person" and then have fun with the term "top"
- g'all
- g'mondo'reiber
- T+00C1 needs to be reviewed in light of this RFC
- re: tabulation: add an entry that is PERSON THAT IS NOT A GUY and people can self-assign that one to indicate they don't want to be assigned togs?
- vouch for PERSON THAT IS NOT A GUY idea
- "Gamer"? Are you serious?
- We should not use any existing words as substitutes for 'guy', due to their semantic baggage resulting in issues such as this one. Propose 'Grack'.
- Also consider 'gurt'.
- This would be very "random" of us. Please do no such thing. I think that we have stumbled upon one of the uses of the word "guy" for which other words are not suitable
- ^ GUY WHO IS "DETERMINISTIC"
- u spelled grak wrong!!
- gilbert
- groy
- DISPOSITION: REPLACE WITH "TOG"? OTHERWISE, GUYWHO IS A GIRL !!closed!!
- DISPOSITION: ARE THERE SNYONE WJO DOESNT EANT TO BE TOGGED
- i did encounter someone who didn't like that they were all 'guy'
- someone suggested 'gal'
- we could have a tickbox that does s/guy/gal/g
- I don't think it matters
- It may not be clear to people from outside the orbit that this is like 95% trans people and so read "guy" a different way.
- bwu
- we could have a slider that continuously transforms from guy to gal
- guy -> gay -> gal
- could also start from the back, gal -> gul -> guy
- actually we should have a slider where it's guy -> (gay|gul) -> gal where the middle one is a selection menu/random replacement. to make it clear we thought about this enough to come up with a design by committee solution
